Congratulations, Yonatan Efrat - AFI week 7 Player of the Week

Congratulations Yonatan Efrat, wide receiver of Bitach - winner of the AFI week 7 Player of the Week.

Bitach is just one game from the top of the standings, and is clearly a serious Holyland Bowl contender. One big question mark: Bitach QB Dani Harow, who specializes at extending plays (and is also the reason for lots of AFI research on the NFL’s obscure “one foot over the line” rule), is now on the DL after mid-season foot surgery. If Harow comes back running less like Mike Vick than Mike Gondelman, he’ll need Jonny Efrat to raise his already-high-altitude game, and come down with some jump balls in the endzone.

Women watching football? That's almost as bad as women learning torah

The AFI announced the introduction of a new mascot for the "Mehadrin Division" today, replacing star lineman and informal mehadrin spokesperson Asher Ingber. Ingber was dethroned after unconfirmed allegations of eating non-glatt rabbanut veggie soydogs.

Online voting is now open for the Week 7 “AFI Player of the Week”. To vote, just go to the AFI Facebook page, and “like” the nomination that you want to vote for.
The PotW nominees are:
- Ben Ritholtz, Wide Receiver/Safety, All The Kings Men. Ritholtz caught the game winning touchdown, returned a punt for a TD, and had the game-clinching interception.
- AJ Varon, WR/CB, Team Operation Embrace: Eretz Hatzvi. Varon’s dominant play was highlighted by 2 TDs and an INT .
- Micha Muskal, QB, Tov Pizza. The veteran All Star kept Tov Pizza undefeated (yes, with one tie), tossing TD passes on every drive of the game.
- Eli Benzaqen, QB, Klein Management.  The new frontrunners may have a Lebron-sized target painted on their backs, but they’re proving themselves more capable than certain South-Beach-based teams at handling the pressure, under Benzaqen’s game management.
- Motti Davidson, Lobos, Tight End. Finally, a little credit to the tight ends of this world – probably one of the most important positions for a serious title contender. And now Lobos finally has the other important weapon that any contender needs – a chip on their shoulder, thanks to Lebron Rudman and Dwyane Ingber. (We kid because we love, guys!)
- Bibi Goodman, QB, Pizzeria Efrat. Goodman seems to have really found his stride, spreading the field and hitting many receivers, including new weapon Mikey Liebowitz multiple times.
Yoel Kaplan, WR, (Moret Group - Hidary/Frimada) Four TDs.
Yonatan Efrat, Bitach, WR/S – primary target with two TDs and huge receptions in Bitach’s continued surge.

Congratulations, Alex Lubat

Congratulations Alex Lubat, wide receiver of Joe’s Eagles – winner of the AFI week 6 Player of the Week.

Joes Eagle's remains at the top of the standings, half a game ahead of Sorrento and Tov Pizza (the latter appear slightly lower in the standings, as they've played one fewer week), and a game ahead of Bitach and Klein.

Nominations for Week 7 should be submitted, by captains ONLY, by Sunday night (and preferably right after the game) to dovrabinowitz@gmail.com . The final short-list of nominations and Online Voting for Week 7 will be announced Monday.

How'd the inaugural winner, Aaron Rosenblatt, do this week? We'd have to say pretty well - his team TJ Osaka, averaged an unbelievable one TD per offensive snap. Yes, I know that sounds nearly impossible, but it's true!
TJ returned the opening kickoff the length of the field for a TD, added a pick-6, and scored on first-down bombs every drive besides one (when they scored on third down, to bring their average DOWN to one TD per snap.)

The Decision - AFI Edition

You may have seen that Bill Simmons, (“The Sports Guy” on ESPN.com) threw in the following joke "pick" in his NFL picks column.

Cavs (+21) over HEAT
Let's say the Ewing Theory takes over, Cleveland totally overachieves (it's already in the works) and snares the No. 6 playoff spot with 42-43 wins. And let's say Miami underachieves a little, suffers a couple of injuries and settles at No. 3 with something like 58-59 wins. Wouldn't a Cavs-Heat first-round series be the greatest feel-good underdog versus evil juggernaut clash America has seen since "USA 4, USSR 3"? How phenomenal would those Cleveland crowds be for those home games?
Now here's the AFI edition:

Lobos (+21) over KLEIN
Let's say the Ingber Theory takes over...
